John Dexter is an Army JAG officer who started playing guitar in 2019.  Raised in Springfield, Missouri, he attended college and law school in Minnesota.  His music style hearkens back to prime 90's alternative rock but also includes many singer-songwriter works that deliver heartfelt lyrics with passionate vocal performances. Similar band comparisons have ranged from Blind Melon, Oasis, Ben Folds Five, Foo Fighters, Goo Goo Dolls, and Verve Pipe. 

Prior to the Army, he worked with over a hundred local bands and musicians booking and promoting shows all over the Twin Cities metro area while primarily managing one band, Scott Morrisson Band.  Now, in a serendipitous twist, Scott helps John by delivering premier song production for all of his music at Scott's Melody Room studio located in Big Lake, MN.

John began writing songs in 2020 and completed his first two songs during the initial COVID lockdown. With support and encouragement along the way, he released his first single on March 4, 2022, "Who I Am", the title track to his upcoming full album release scheduled for May 20, 2022. His second single, "Grass is Greener (An Army PCS Song)", is a rock anthem that is being released on April 15 and will relate to anybody who has ever desperately needed a change of scenery from a job, duty location, or even a relationship.
